Quite a few wonderful things have happened and we would like to share them with you. Because of generous donations, we were able to buy a family their first refrigerator. A lady and her children wished to sell some drinks and food from their home and needed a small refrigerator. They are very expensive here. Most of the families that we work with have dirt floors and have never owned a fridge. The Garcia family is no different. When we took the fridge to them, they had to get a sheet of plywood to set it on so that it would be in the dirt. Their humble home was clean and neat nonetheless. It was a moment packed with emotion and tears. Thank you for giving to the Lord. April, the kids and I really appreciate your donations that allow us to do these type things.
On a more somber note, Mr. Luis’ garden pretty much dried up. Pray that this family will soon have a more dependable way to get and hold water. He is currently working to build a holding reservoir.
James 4:14-15 says – “You don’t even know what your life tomorrow will be! What you should say is this, “If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that.” Most people here in Nicaragua say “if the Lord’s willing” after making a promise or setting a date for something. It is a daily reminder that it is not up to us or in our power to make the day to day things happen. We depend on God for our provision and He has never let us down.
Thanks to some special people, we were able to purchase basic necessities for families in San Antonio. We put bags together and each one contained Rice, Beans, Soap, Toilet Tissue, Cooking oil, and other basic items. Thanks again for your generosity. Pray for us to have discernment and wisdom. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the needs we see. Unfortunately, this life is as good as it gets for those who are without Jesus. Humanitarian relief is of little significance if people’s souls are eternally lost.
Blessings, The Gass Family
